Sun, fun, and lots of poker. That is what the Cash Game Festival Sunny Beach at Platinum Casino in Bulgaria is all about!
Yesterday’s Day 1 lived up to its billing with about a dozen tables running for hours upon end in NLHE, PLO, and, of course, after the Swedish duo of Peter La Terra and Peter Bergman arrived, Sviten Special as well.
Kostadin Kostadinov (lead image) made a sick laydown which we will get into soon. Meanwhile, Viacheslav Kovalev and Stanislav Parkhomenko were the biggest winners of the respective TV tables.
Viacheslav Wins First TV Table
Viacheslav is so far in the lead for the CGF Sunny Beach trophy, which will be awarded on Saturday night to the player that wins the most big blinds on any of the first eight TV tables. He has been to many of our festivals before in Tallinn and decided to take a summer holiday with us in Sunny Beach and immediately hop onto the first TV table with stakes at €1/€2 NLHE.
Usually, the average low-stakes NLHE game can be a bit tight. Players usually loosen up their ranges at our TV tables and such was the case yesterday with our first TV table beginning after players enjoyed our welcome drinks. Viacheslav took the most advantage and booked a tidy profit of €670 in the 2 1/2 hour session for 335 big blinds.
While Viacheslav did win a big hand involving CGF regular Ed Furniss and Kostas, it could have been more with Kostas making a great fold many players would find hard to do.
Ed jammed into an already healthy pot with top pair with queen-jack on a queen-high board with three hearts. His bet more than covered the around 70-100 big blinds his two opponents each had remaining in their stacks. Viacheslav wasted no time making the call with second to bottom set holding a pair of fives with a five on the board.
Meanwhile, the well-experienced Kostadin smelled a rat. He too held a set, but a lower one than Viacheslav holding a pair of threes with a three on the board. It didn’t take long for Kostadin to feel he was beat with the action in front of him and made the correct fold as he was drawing to just one out, which didn’t come.
Stanislav Wins the PLO TV Table
The game changed to €2/€2 PLO after a short break with an experienced line-up including Kaloyan Ivanov, Barrier Dear, Philip Vorontstov, Georgi Mitev, Henry Kilbane, Angel Ivanov, and Mihail Hristov.
However, it was Stanislav that crushed them all after winning €564 or 283 big blinds during the late session. While we did award Stanislav with a small gift after his win, he will have to try again if he wants the trophy which also comes with a CGF package to our next event as he didn’t win as many big blinds as Viacheslav did at the first TV table.
Day 2 Preview
Many of our players came in late on Day 1 and opted to enjoy the nightlife of Sunny Beach or get some rest before going at it hard the rest of the festival. With this in mind, we expect even more action in the poker room today.
We have two action-packed TV tables planned. A €2/€2 NLHE game will kick off the televised games at 6:30 p.m. local time. Our fans will be able to tune into CGF Commentator George Sandford hosting the action to on the Cash Game Festival Twitch Channel starting at 7 p.m EEST (5 p.m. GMT/6 p.m. CEST).
The action will get much bigger after a short break with a five-five-five game. What we mean here is that it will be a high-octane €5/€5 5-Card PLO game.
Check out our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube to follow the action close and personal. And, of course, don’t forget to tune into our Twitch stream to watch what promises to be some fun action at both of our TV tables starting at 7 p.m. EEST (5 p.m. GMT/6 p.m. CEST).
